The first impression of Melaka is that of a small quiet town where the locals can smell the non-locals from afar. First cultural shock, “Registered taxis do not have meters. Only free-lance taxis do”. So I am told by the security guard look-alike standing at the taxi registeration counter right inside Melaka Sentral station.
